Pathologist Requirements
Applicants must possess board certification or eligibility in pathology, with additional fellowship training in any subspecialty. Ideal candidates should be adept at handling a dynamic workload in a community pathology environment, which encompasses general anatomic pathology, frozen sections, and autopsy duties. While not mandatory, proficiency in Dermpath or Hemepath is advantageous for those with relevant training or a strong interest in these areas. All pathologists share on-call duties equally.
Pathologists’ Assistants Requirements
Pathologists’ assistants at Wilmington Pathology Associates play a crucial role in the surgical pathology process. They are responsible for the gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens, performing frozen sections, and conducting gross photography and autopsies. Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and have completed a pathologists’ assistant program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
